In a momentous evening celebrating elegance, beauty, and empowered womanhood, 19-year-old Kelulu Dawhü, a student at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, made history by winning the inaugural title of Miss Universe Nagaland 2025. The prestigious pageant, held on Tuesday at the Regional Centre for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), saw 14 talented contestants vie for the coveted crown. Joining her on the winners’ podium were 19-year-old Anon Konyak, who secured the first runner-up position, and 20-year-old Teilih, named second runner-up.
Kelulu’s victory was particularly resonant due to her articulate and impactful response to the classic finale question: “If you could create a campaign about a global issue, what would it be and why?” She eloquently expressed her deep-seated desire to raise awareness about the inequality faced by girls worldwide.


A seasoned advocate, Kelulu’s commitment to this cause is well-established, having previously held the title of Miss Kohima 2024 and securing the 2nd runner-up position at Miss Nagaland 2024. She emphasized her long-standing dedication to protecting and educating the girl child, outlining her vision to conduct seminars specifically aimed at empowering young girls through education.


Kelulu firmly believes that every girl deserves the fundamental rights to be born, to receive an education, and to pursue her dreams without fear. As she powerfully stated, “It is through education that a girl is empowered, and when a woman is empowered, she not only uplifts herself, she uplifts those around her.” Her words resonated with the audience, highlighting the ripple effect of female empowerment on families and communities.


The event was graced by the presence of Veyielo Doulo, Director of Tourism, who expressed his honour and gratitude for the opportunity to witness such a wonderful evening. Doulo offered words of encouragement to all the contestants, assuring them of his continued support and urging them to strive for excellence in higher-level competitions to bring pride to Nagaland.
