Wrestlers representing the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) delivered a stellar performance at the All-India Traditional Wrestling Pankration Federation (AITWPF) National Federation Cup 2025, securing an impressive five gold medals and one bronze. The national championship concluded on May 4th in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
A press statement released by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho highlighted the success of the three-member NWA contingent. Led by NWA President Vivolie Kezo, the team showcased their prowess in the senior men’s Belt Wrestling and Mas Wrestling categories throughout the four-day event, held from May 1st to 4th.
Beyond their medal-winning achievements, all three Nagaland wrestlers were afforded the valuable opportunity to serve as match officials during the championship. This experience culminated in the awarding of Qualified National Referee Licenses, empowering them to officiate in future national-level competitions.
Adding a unique cultural dimension to the event, the NWA presented a captivating demonstration of Naga wrestling, a distinct traditional wrestling style from Nagaland. The showcase, featuring a live session and an informative video presentation on the final day, garnered considerable attention and appreciation from participants and officials hailing from across India. The AITWPF lauded Naga wrestling and underscored its potential for inclusion in upcoming national and international sporting events, contingent on support from various state wrestling associations.
The victorious NWA team is scheduled to return to Nagaland on May 5th. NWA President Vivolie Kezo expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Nagaland, dedicated wrestling enthusiasts both within and outside the state, and attributed the team’s success to divine blessings and the unwavering support of the people of Nagaland.
