DIMAPUR: The Dimapur Police has issued an important traffic advisory announcing the continued closure of a significant stretch of National Highway-36 (NH-36) within Dimapur. This road closure, initially announced earlier, is now extended until May 15, 2025, to allow for the crucial curing process of newly laid concrete.

The affected section of NH-36 spans from Km 165.600 to Km 165.925, specifically the area situated below the flyover along the Dimapur Railway Siding, extending from the Blue Hill Police Assistant Booth (PAB) to the Flyover Y-Junction exit. This closure applies to all types of vehicular traffic.

This necessary measure is in place to ensure the proper curing of both the Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) and Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) surfaces, which is vital for the long-term strength and durability of the road.

As per the Dimapur traffic police advisory, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to resume travel on this section of NH-36 starting from May 16, 2025. However, the movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will remain restricted beyond this date until the concrete curing is fully completed and deemed satisfactory.

This traffic advisory is in accordance with the directives issued by the Executive Engineer of the PWD National Highway Division, Kohima. The Dimapur Police urges the public to extend their full cooperation during this period to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of this vital road infrastructure in Dimapur, Nagaland. Motorists traveling through Dimapur are advised to seek alternative routes during this NH-36 closure to avoid inconvenience.

The extended traffic advisory issued by the Dimapur Police regarding the NH-36 road closure until May 15th underscores the critical need for public cooperation. This temporary inconvenience is essential to ensure the proper curing of the newly laid concrete, ultimately guaranteeing the long-term strength and durability of this vital stretch of road in Dimapur, Nagaland. While Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) can anticipate resuming travel from May 16th, restrictions for Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will remain until the curing process is fully complete. By adhering to the advised alternative routes, the public can contribute significantly to the success of this infrastructure project and mitigate potential disruptions.
