The special event was dedicated to honoring the elderly residents of the village, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the community and rich legacy.
The celebration witnessed the esteemed presence of Tepul Hepovi, President of the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO), as the special guest. In his address, Hepovi warmly commended the initiative, expressing his delight that the cherished tradition of honoring elders has reached its milestone 20th year.
Acknowledging the concerning trend of a declining elderly population in villages, Hepovi found encouragement in the strong and vibrant attendance at the event. He offered heartfelt prayers for the well-being of the elders, wishing them continued good health and longevity.
Hepovi further lauded the leadership and elders of Kohima Village for their pivotal role in fostering unity, integrity, and solidarity within the community. He highlighted these qualities as the foundation that has established Kohima Village as a model for other communities.
Reflecting on the village’s historical embrace of Christianity, Hepovi recognized the instrumental role of the elders in spreading the gospel and preserving this enduring legacy. He also expressed profound gratitude for their significant contribution of land for the establishment of Nagaland’s state capital, creating a welcoming and picturesque home for diverse communities.
Emphasizing the crucial role of elders as sources of wisdom, vision, and blessings, Hepovi credited them as the very cornerstone of the community’s progress and development. He passionately urged them to actively impart their invaluable knowledge and lived experiences to the younger generations, stressing that academic qualifications alone lack completeness without the profound depth of traditional wisdom.
The memorable event, skilfully chaired by Khrietuo Pienyii, commenced with a solemn invocation led by Rev. Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, Pastor of Khedi Baptist Church. The annual report, highlighting the organization’s impactful work, was presented by Kevitsu Yhome. Heartfelt prayers for the elders’ continued well-being were offered by Rev.
