KTC Denies Existence of Child Trafficking Cases:

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has issued a clarification refuting a recent statement made on social media platforms by Reny Wilfred, an IAS officer, concerning alleged child trafficking incidents in Noklak. The tribal council firmly stated that no such cases have been filed or registered within the Noklak district and clarifies on Reny Wilfred’s Statement Regarding Child Trafficking Allegation in Noklak.

Statement Questions Former Deputy Commissioner’s Claims:

The KTC directly addressed the statement made by Mr. Reny Wilfred, the former Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, questioning the “pretence to existence of Child Trafficking under Noklak district.” Mr. Wilfred served as the first Deputy Commissioner of Noklak from August 6, 2020, to July 28, 2021.

Lack of Official Records:

The KTC asserted that since Mr. Wilfred’s tenure, there have been no child trafficking cases filed or registered at any police station within the Noklak district. Furthermore, they stated that no such incidents have been reported by any related child care and protection institutions operating in the district.

Reference to Molestation Case Against Former DC:

Interestingly, the KTC’s statement makes a direct reference to a molestation case involving two juvenile girls, where the alleged perpetrator was none other than Mr. Reny Wilfred himself, during his time as the Deputy Commissioner.

KTC’s Firm Stance:

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council’s clarification strongly suggests that the claims of child trafficking in Noklak, as stated by the former Deputy Commissioner, are unfounded based on official records within the district. The inclusion of the reference to the molestation case against Mr. Wilfred adds a significant and potentially contentious dimension to. the KTC’s response.

KTC Questions Former DC’s Silence During Tenure on Child Trafficking Claims

Why Silent Then?

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) further questioned the timing of Mr. Reny Wilfred’s statement. They raised concerns about why, if he possessed knowledge of prevalent child trafficking during his tenure as the Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, he allegedly “remained a silent spectator.”

Allegation Seen as Diversion Tactic:

The KTC went on to suggest a potential motive behind Mr. Wilfred’s claims. They stated that his “fabricated child trafficking allegation defaming the entire populace of Noklak is to deviate from his actual offence which is not subjected to arise in this instant case.” This statement strongly implies that the KTC believes Mr. Wilfred’s allegations are an attempt to distract from the pending molestation case against him.

Demand for Expedited Justice:

Concluding their statement, the Khiamniungan Tribal Council urged the relevant law enforcement agencies to expedite the pending case against Mr. Reny Wilfred and to “deliver justice to the victims as per the law.”
